A Girl That Holds $5 In Her Hand

Yes, then again. In English!!! Kinda spoil my blog I feel.. ops.. But really feel that it looks nicer in Chinese. Sigh, NO choice, computers in ITE EAST don't have Chinese writing function in it.
Yesterday, I heard a very interesting and worth pondering analogy.

A Girl That Holds $5 In Her Hand

Once, there was a 5 years old girl who was given $5 to buy candies that she likes from Candy Empire. She was so excited, jumping with joy couldn't wait to get to Candy Empire. When she reached Candy Empire, she was stunned. Standing at the entrance, she held her $5 and didn't know what to choose. As she walked around the shop, she grabs the dollar note tighter and tighter hoping not to make a wrong choice. Finally, she came out with a packet of candies that she had chosen that worth $5.

So, what's the opportunity cost of the candies?

The other choices that she didn't take when choosing candies.

I was told that I am the little girl, having so many choices in my life. I've got to learn to make my choice worth while. I've got to learn to prioritize what's important in my life. I've yet to really get the gist of the analogy. Though it was told to me that it's about making choice in life. With every choice that I make, I will loose other stuff that I didn't choose. As simple as I am, I feel that though the opportunity cost seems like alot, but those in my hands are what I like and what I want. So why must I be thinking so much on what I didn't choose?

This analogy is still in my mind activiely searching for something. What? I don't really know. But somehow, don't know why, I feel that there is more to the analogy than just to making choices in life.
